Studio Thrifty4 the Kids is fully stocked with basic necessities for children, including new and gently worn boys’ and girls’ clothing for infants up to 18-year-olds. The store has an inviting, groovy disco theme that is colorful, chic and fun for kids of all ages. The atmosphere of the boutique was created to ensure the foster children have an enjoyable experience as they shop for clothing and necessities. The goal of Studio Thrifty4 the Kids is to provide a sense of normalcy to foster children by sending them home with basic needs to set them up for success.

“I could not be prouder of the community for stepping up and helping us make ‘Studio Thrifty4 the Kids’ boutique so amazing. The quality of clothing and shoe donations that we have received has absolutely exceeded our expectations.  The environment and feeling we strive to create for these awesome kids has come together beautifully; all because our community cares about putting smiles on these kids’ faces and raising their self-esteem. Dressing cool and feeling as ‘normal’ as possible during this traumatic time is the store’s mission. Offering this service for free helps take away the added stress foster parents already have trying to keep their kids properly clothed.  There is a misconception that foster parents receive an abundance of money for clothing, but goodness we all know how fast kids grow and the expense that comes along with it,” said Cassie Slone, Executive Director of The Foster Care Council.

 

he Foster Care Council’s staff operates the store with help from volunteers and interns as needed to accept donations, clean, tag and inventory clothing and accessories. Shopping is scheduled by appointment only to create a safe space where the staff can assist foster families and take care of each foster child’s individual needs. The shop is not open to the public.

Please ensure that your gently-worn donations are high-quality: not ripped, stained, broken, or missing pieces. We ask that all donations come from smoke-free homes.

Accepted Donations:

• Clothing and coats (Any size from infant to adult)

• New socks and underwear 

• Shoes (all sizes) 

• Books (ages 0-12)

• New arts and crafts/school supplies

• New hygiene supplies

• New towels, wash cloths and blankets 

• New stuffed animals

The Foster Care Council of LexKY is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 2012 to provide funding for individualized tutoring, clothing, and enrichment activities to foster children in central Kentucky.
